Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

Pharmaceutical biotechnology is the use of biotechnology in the production of pharmaceuticals, gene therapy, and gene testing. Pharmaceutical biotechnology is a field of science involving the use of recombinant DNA in the production of effective drugs or medicine. Pharmaceutical biotechnology is a relatively new and rapidly growing discipline in which biotechnology principles are applied to drug development. Bioformulations, such as antibodies, nucleic acid products, and vaccinations, make up the bulk of therapeutic medications on the market today. Understanding the principles underlying health and disease; synthesis and purification of the molecules; fundamental molecular mechanisms governing the function of related biomolecules; determining the product shelf life, stability, toxicity, and immunogenicity; drug delivery systems; patenting; and clinical trials are all stages in the development of such bioformulations. Pharmaceutical biotechnology is a fast-growing discipline that focuses on the discovery and production of biopharmaceuticals that have the potential to cure a wide range of diseases.
